How do I sell my land to someone else?

We strongly recommend you use the built-in For-Sale tools provided in Second Life to list and sell your parcel to another resident. Selling your land via another method is possible; but adds risk to the process. All parcels listed for sale also benefit from advertising in the Second Life Directory.

To do this:

  1. Right-click on your parcel.
  2. Select 'About Land' from the pie menu.
  3. Click the 'Sell Land' button.
  4. Enter a price (no spaces or comma's)
  5. Select whether you are selling to an individual or anyone.
  6. Decide whether to sell your objects with the land as part of the sale (note, this will not apply to objects which are owned by other residents, or are not transferable)
  7. Click the 'Sell Land' button.

Tips for selling your land

The market does vary to a good degree - most parcels can be sold on the Azure Islands for L$6/sqm or more. We recommend you avoid selling for less than L$4/sqm.

Since your parcel is listed in the directory, having a screenshot of your parcel can be advantageous - you can include one from the 'About Land' screen. (Drag from your inventory over the Gray Crossed Square). It is also advisable to include a name, and a description which includes keywords (such as 'Beach','Island' or 'Jungle')

Parcels often sell best when they are unoccupied - removing your objects from the land, reverting any terraforming to default and re-planting any trees will often increase the speed at which your parcel will sell. Many of the trees we use on the Azure Islands are availible in the library folder in your inventory.

How do I buy a parcel?

We strongly recommend you use the built-in For-Sale tools provided in Second Life to buy your parcel to another resident. Any other method is potentially untrustworthy and not recommended. Please also note that if you buy a parcel from a resident other than 'AzureIslands Ambassador', you may inherit remaining or outstanding tier, see the covenant for more information.

To do this:

  1. Right-click on your parcel.
  2. Select 'About Land' from the pie menu.
  3. Click the 'Buy Land' button.
  4. Read the covenant on the buy land screen.
  5. Agree to the covenant.
  6. Click the 'Buy Land' button.

This may sometimes fail - the most common cause of this is not having billing information on file, you will need billing information on file to own land in Second Life (however a premium account is not required for land on the Azure Islands.)
