Q: What is Tier?
A: Tier is a regular fee which is required for land ownership in Second Life. Tier on the Azure Islands is paid to the Azure Islands, rather than to Linden Lab. No premium account, nor tier from Linden Lab is required for land on the Azure Islands, and allows us to offer better rates.
Q: Can Linden Lab tier be used with the Azure Islands?
A: No, not at this time - however we are investigating offering this option in the future.
Q: Why do we have to pay Azure Islands Tier?
A: Tier is used to pay for ongoing costs associated with the service. We use it to pay for the fees to host Islands from Linden Lab. Since we get discounts associated with whole island ownership, we can pass on the savings.
Q: Will land here count againts my land allocation?
A: No, Land on the Azure Islands will not count towards your land allocation.
Q: Why does my weekly fee change all the time?
A: Our pricing is set in US$, the pricing you get inworld is indexed to the current market rate. Our core USD pricing has never been raised. We also offer USD payment as an option.
Q: What is the difference between land on the Azure Islands, and land offered by Linden Lab?
A: Land on the Azure Islands is maintained by the Azure Islands group, we provide more commonly requested themes and settings, and at the same time, provide zoning services with the land. The Azure Islands also allots vastly larger amounts of public space (between 30% and 50% of our continent is allocated for public use).

In the upcoming 1.12 release - land on the Azure Islands will be virtually indistinguishable from land availible on the mainland. Until then however, there are a few key differences - while we offer you full access to your land, it needs to be granted to you by way of 'group deeding' - this process requires either a group you are an officer of, or a one time fee of L$100 to create a new group. Ownership of land is also held in our private database - transfer of your land to another user is fully permitted.

The most important difference is that the land on the Azure Islands is managed by the Azure Islands rather than Linden Lab. All payments are paid to Azure Islands, and the Azure Islands retains the right to revert ownership of a parcel due to either default on ongoing payments, or repeated violation of the zoning regulations.
