Using Group Land

Owning land as a group is an attractive option for projects with multiple people involved, or to share land with a close friend, however you should be aware of the pitfalls associated with using group land.

  • Every owner and officer of the group can sell the land, potentially to themselves or others. Any such sale is final, if you own land in a group, make sure you trust everyone inside the group implicitly.
  • When a piece of group land is sold, the profits from the sale will be split between every member who is capable of recieving and paying group dividends.
  • The Azure Islands tier terminals expect to be paid by an avatar, if you have group land, you will need to assign someone as the owner for tier paying purposes.

How to buy group land

There is two methods for buying group land, the direct method, and the indirect method. If you purchase via the direct method, you may miss out on recieving important help and information notecards, as well as any free items that come with new land purchases. These instructions assume you already have a group setup, and the group is active.

  2. Right-click on the parcel and select the 'About Land' option from the Pie Menu.
  3. From the about land dialog, click the 'Buy Land for Group' button.

Tier and group land.

A group in Second Life counts as a seperate user; with it's own L$ balance and ID. Because of this, when you transfer a parcel to a group; to our systems, it appears as if another user has purchased the land. Unfortunately, since it is impossible to pay from a group account directly - tier becomes difficult to pay.

However, we can manually adjust a lease to include other people in the list of people paying the lease. We can include an unlimited number of people here, but ask you keep it to a maximum of three. If you are the only person who wants to be on the lease, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Tier Terminal.
  2. Select the 'Error?' button
  3. Select the 'Send' button
  4. Wait 24 hours.
  5. Pay for tier as normal.

If you want other people to be included on this list - please send a message with the Parcel Number and the people you wish us to add to the lease to 'AzureIslands Ambassador' or contact us.
