How do I tell how many primitives I have?

Primitive counts in Second Life are tied to your land ownership in a particular region, in some of our regions there is a region bonus multiplier which can increase the number of prims allocated to resident parcels, however we cannot individually increase or decrease primitive counts per parcel.

You can access the about land properties by clicking the blue text at the top of the screen while over the parcel. Primitive counts are on the 'objects' tab.

On the 'About Land' properties box there is three important numbers listed for each parcel.

  • Simulator primitive usage - This is a per-user, per region statistic and is not tied to the specific parcel. If you are buying a parcel do not use this number to read the number of prims you expect to get. This number is the number of prims availible for that user in this region with all of their land.
  • Primitives parcel supports - This is the number of prims this parcel will support. This is the number to read when buying a new parcel to determine the number of primitives it will have when you buy it.
  • Primitives on parcel - This is the number of primitives on a parcel already. Trees, waves, rocks and other landscaping will count towards this limit, however can be returned by the parcel owner.

How do I get more primitives for building?

Primitives are allocated on a per-user basis for each region. Your primitive count is the combination of all the parcels you have in a region in your name (if you have group land, see below). Primitive counts are a function of the number of square meters of land you have in the region - the current primitive formula is:

sqm total ÷ 65536 × 15000 × bonus multiplier

The fastest way to increase the number of square meters you have in a region is to buy more land, or to do a land swap. Your can learn more about land swaps on our special offers page.

I have group land, and I'm not getting all the prims showing up?

Primitive counts are done on a per-owner basis, when you use group land, the group counts as a seperate owner (even though you may own the group itself). To gain access to all your primitives move your parcels into a common owner (either the group, or your own avatars name)
